If a Book Were a Song #9

REALMS COLLIDE by B.M. Grammars & A.B. Phillips (2017)

Ellen begins a new school in Australia after moving from London. Her life isn’t easy – she is involved in a playground fight, is living in a frightful old house, and she sees visions of Greek mythology. However, with her new friend Castor by her side, she begins to understand that there are greater forces at work. Will she be prepared for the scale of conflict that is to come?

The Stage 2 students at Blue Mountains Grammar School, together with their brilliant teacher, Mr Phillips, have worked hard to create a fast-paced, action-packed thriller. Each student has taken on a different chapter of the book, though you would never know it, as the story flows smartly from one section to the next.

‘Realms Collide’ is a remarkable effort by a talented bunch of young writers. Students and teachers should be paying attention to projects like this. Surely, there is no better way to engage an entire class in the writing process.

IF THIS BOOK WERE A SONG …

Epic. Tense. Dark. Action-packed.
